Adjacent to the church is a cemetery that dates back to the 1830s, where the stories of those who have contributed to the county's history are preserved.

Laura Chapel Church - 1933
Laura Chapel originated as a Sunday School in an area of the county known as "The Pint," a strip of land stretching from the swamp road to Otter Creek, owned by Mr. Ivy Echols of Patterson. According to a 1981 church booklet by Beatrice A. Crawford, the Sunday School initially met in homes, with Mr. Lewis Rooks' residence becoming a regular gathering place on Sunday evenings. As the number of attendees grew, Rooks acquired a vacant log house across the road from Mr. Riley Bonham and began remodeling it. The result was a one-room structure featuring a front door, two front and rear windows, four side windows on each wall, and pews made from wooden boards. A round hot heater provided heating, while cooling was offered through hand fans donated by local stores, banks, and funeral homes.
In the summer of 1932, Rev. Lester Dixon, a deacon at the Patterson Baptist Church, began preaching in the log cabin. That fall, he held a revival, during which 27 new members joined the congregation. This revival led to the founding of Laura Chapel Baptist Church, and the 27 converts became the charter members. Among them was the beloved Laura Hall Sellers, after whom the church was named. Her name was suggested by Rev. Lester Dixon and Mr. Jim Cauley, and the idea was unanimously accepted. "Aunt Laura," born in 1856 to early Pierce County settlers, played a significant role in the church's establishment; she held the first corner of the church’s wall while it was being nailed together.
In 1933, the log cabin was torn down, and a frame church was erected, using lumber from the old Patterson Baptist Church. Laura Chapel Baptist Church was officially dedicated on February 21, 1963, in honor of Mrs. Laura Hall Sellers. Additionally, a new pastorium was dedicated on September 1, 1968.
